THE AMERICAN SPIRIT SERIES

Every culture is a reflection of God.

The American Spirit Series of documentaries looks at four sub-cultures within the U.S. - Appalachian, Native, Black, and Hispanic - and how those groups have helped to form the 'American Spirit,' both historically and today.

Reservations

2018

Reservations is the story of one family's journey into Native cultures in the U.S. - from the land of the Hopewell in Ohio, the land of the Cherokee in Georgia and North Carolina, and the land of the Sioux in North and South Dakota. Along the way, they learned that many of the images of Native peoples found in our society today are far from the truth.

Boom & Bust

2017

Appalachia has long been known for being 'coal country.' For over a hundred years, coal mining has formed the backbone of the Appalachian economy, providing jobs and perpetuating the rise of 'boom towns.' In recent years, however, coal has been on the decline, and with coal companies pulling out of many areas of Appalachia - and the once plentiful jobs going with them - a number of these boom towns are now going 'bust.'
